An easy and cheap way to get new more powerfull weapons is from the collectors. There are numerous collectors throughout the Guild Wars world.
A comprehensive list of collectors, what they want, and what they will trade you can be found Here on the Guild Wars Wiki. |

Not only collectors, but various weapons guys spread around towns and outposts. For those you need certain materials and gold.

a good wand......depends on what you think that is.......
I have been looking for a good fire wand since, well, almost since I got the game....and still have yet to find one that mets my idea....same with a smiting rod----- now staves I have been lucky enough to get decent ones....but wands are still a bit tricky.....since I normally pair it up with a focus item. there are tons of collector items and weapon crafters (esp if you have factions and/or nightfall----these are more abundant since most of the game is for level 20 characters)....some of the items are good, others; well, they will do until..... and I have always wanted a good gold drop ---wand, still waiting for it..... good luck! |

Since you are new to the game, your character probably isn't leveled high enough to get your attribute points up that far. I also notice the the sidebar that you're an Ele/Monk. The Luminecient Scepter is a Mesmer weapon, and you won't even have a Domination attribute to meet the requirement. You'll probably be better off with collector weapons and even quest rewards for cheap usable weapons, at least until you get leveled up and get some gold. |

wanding doesn't do much damage to stronger enemies anyways because they have stronger armor and more life. you need to use spells to do most of your damage.
